Biography

Toni Johnson Harryman started Johnson Photography in 1982. She has earned her CPP, Masters and Craftsman degrees from PPA and a fellowship degree and the National Service Award from PP of Iowa.

She is also a past president of PPI.  She has consistently been in the top ten in the Master’s division in Iowa earning the #1 spot in 2014. She has several images in the IPC Loan Collection earning silver, gold and platinum medals.

The Why’s and How’s of Print Competition

This program is for people who are beginning print competition and for those who are too scared to try print competition as well as those who want to know about changes and what the judges are thinking as they judge your images. First, we will delve into the why’s of entering. Then we will discuss the flow chart for your images and why you should take advantage of multiple judgings. We will cover the 12 elements of a Merit Image. What are those judges looking for?  We will look at some competition images from raw prints to loan collection images. Information on print presentation will be included. We will talk about titles and why they matter and some of the terms associated with print competition that we sometimes take for granted that people know.
